Products Overview

1.
Polarization
Cell Replacement (PCR)

The PCR is a solid-state device
designed to simultaneously provide DC decoupling and AC
continuity / grounding when used with cathodically protected
structures, such as pipelines, tanks, grounding systems, and
cable casings. The PCR has very high AC fault current and
lightning surge current ratings. UL listed as an
"effective grounding path." Can be installed in electrical grounding systems
for DC isolation.
-
Range of AC Fault
Ratings.
-
Higher Blocking
Voltage than Polarization Cells.
-
UL and C-UL Listed
for Grounding Electrical Equipment.
-
UL, C-UL Listed for
Class I, Division 2 Locations.
-
Certified by UL / Demko
for Meeting ATEX Directive for Zone 2; CE Marked.
-
Available in
Submersible Version.
| Lightning surge current rating: |
100,000A crest (8 x 20 µs
waveform) |
| AC fault current ratings, range: |
3,700A (rms) to 15,000A (rms)
at 0.5 sec |
| Steady-state AC current ratings: |
45A (rms) or 80A (rms) |
| Blocking voltage: |
Approx. 3V |
2.
Polarization
Cell Replacement for Hazardous Locations (PCRH)

The PCRH is a DC decoupling and AC
continuity/grounding device with the same electrical ratings as the PCR,
but it is rated for Class I, Div 1
& 2 areas. Having been fully tested and listed by Underwriter’s
Laboratory (UL) to the US and Canadian standards, the device
carries the UL mark and C-UL (Canada) mark. No other known
company offers decouplers with third-party listings for
hazardous locations.
- Same electrical ratings as the standard PCR.
- UL listed for Class 1, Division 1 & 2 locations.
- UL listed to meet U.S. National Electric Code section 250
for effective grounding path.
- Provides simultaneous AC grounding and DC isolation.
- Rated for lightning surges, AC faults, and steady-state AC
current.
- The only UL-listed product of its type.
3.
Overvoltage
Protector (OVP)

The OVP is an over-voltage protector for Class I, Div. 1 & 2,
Group B, C, D locations. Instead of a gapped design, the OVP
uses solid-state switching components to conduct at very low
voltages, providing the best over-voltage protection. Rated for
AC fault current as well as high values of lightning surge
current, the OVP can be applied to sites where a spark-gap
arrester or metal oxide varistor (MOV) would be inappropriate.
- The only fail-safe "arrester" on
the market (i.e., fails shorted).
- Solid-state design eliminates
arcing.
- Conduction at much lower
voltages than gapped arresters.
- Rated for AC fault current and
lightning surge current.
- Suitable for submersed or
above-ground locations.
- UL, C-UL listed explosion-proof
design.
- Corrosion resistant nickel
finish.
|
Threshold voltage: |
-3/+1V
or -2/+2V (standard) -4/+4V (optional) |
| Lightning surge current rating: |
100 kA crest (8 x 20 µs waveform) |
| AC
fault Current, 60 Hz, A rms: |
6500, 1 cycle; 3700, 30 cycles |
| AC
fault Current, 50 Hz, A rms: |
6100, 1 cycle; 4700, 30 cycles |
|
Hazardous areas: |
Per NEC, CSA: Class I, Division 1 & 2,
Groups A, B, C, D Per EN50021: Zone 2 |
4.
Isolation /
Surge Protector (ISP)

The ISP is an isolation / surge
protection with the greatest range of
design ratings. Suitable for higher blocking voltage requirements and/or high AC fault
conditions, the ISP is commonly used on power utility underground transmission cable
casings, sites with higher DC voltage present, or sites with comprehensive testing
requirements. The ISP can be analyzed using the In-situ Tester to verify all modes of
operation and read site parameters.
- Solid-state design replaces
polarization cell technology.
- No maintenance needed.
- Fail-safe design with self-protection
features
built-in.
- Simple field testing
procedures with standard equipment.
- Comprehensive testing
available with In-Situ Tester (IST)
- Flashing LED indicates
device operation.
- No energy/power requirements.
- Unlimited number of
operations.
- Submersible enclosure.
| Lightning surge current rating: |
50,000A or 75,000A crest |
| AC fault current ratings, range: |
3,700A (rms) to 30,000A (rms)
at 0.5 sec |
| Steady-state AC current ratings: |
30A (rms) to 90A (rms) |
| Blocking voltage: |
10V or 17V |

About Dairyland
Electrical Industries (DEI)
Dairyland Electrical
Industries (DEI) has served the energy, corrosion, and
electrical service industries since 1983 with innovative
solid-state products for isolation, grounding, and protection.
Offering the first solid-state solutions to each of these
markets, DEI remains the leader in the industry, with constant
product development. DEI’s conservative designs lead to proven
long life and maintenance-free operation.
DEI established the technology
requirements for protective products in the industry and
provides these important features:
-
Fail-safe
design
- Maintenance-free
- Independent laboratory
testing and listing
- Products listed for
hazardous locations
- Ratings that eclipse other
technologies
Where electrical or other safety
codes apply, DEI offers products that are independently tested
and certified. Examples of such compliance include listings by
Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) in the U.S. and Canada for
electrical grounding safety codes, and stringent testing for
hazardous location use as well. For Europe, we offer CE marked
products that have been given Type Certificates by DEMKO. For
the marine markets, products have been tested by Imanna
Laboratories, and further approved by the American Bureau of
Shipping (ABS). DEI is committed to producing superior products,
tested to industry standards for full traceability.
