Selecting the Right Splice

For fast and easy splicing kits, 3M is the only company to offer such a wide choice of technologies, including cold shrink, resin and heat shrink, so you can select the kit that exactly suits your voltage and environment protection requirements.

1.  Cold Shrink™ Technology
3M Cold Shrink technology utilizes Cold Shrink connector insulators - a series of open-ended tubular EPDM rubber sleeves which are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core. They're supplied for field installation in the pre-stretched condition. The core is simply removed after the tube has been positioned for installation, allowing the tube to shrink and form a safe, uniform, water-resistant seal without torches or special tools.

2.  Resin Technology
3M resin splicing kits accommodate almost any type of splice, including odd-shaped connections. The splicing kits have a high degree of mechanical strength for physical protection of connections and provide moisture-resistant insulation in above ground or direct buried applications.

3.  Heat Shrink Technology
3M Heat Shrink technology provides long-term, reliable performance as well as mechanical and environmental protection. Heat Shrink technology combines easy handling and installation with maximum operating reliability and system protection. 3M heat shrinkable products come ready-to-use and easily slip over the item to be insulated. With the application of heat. these products automatically shrink to a skin-tight fit, even over irregularly shaped objects.
